Price rules and calendar overrides

A price you enter directly on the calendar takes precedence for those nights. Propool keeps it as a One-off price. Saving or recalculating your price rules does not replace that price. Choose Back to rules when you want that night to follow the rules again.

Price rules work out the nightly price for the other nights. They let you set standing prices and changes for conditions such as dates, weekdays, how far away the stay is, or a gap between bookings.

Which takes precedence: calendar price or price rules?

  1. A one-off calendar price wins for that night. This is a price you typed in the calendar, including the saved result of a percentage or fixed adjustment made there.
  2. Otherwise, the price rules calculate the night. Propool checks your rules and uses the Base price if no price-setting rule matches.

Example: Your rules calculate ฿3,000 for Friday. You change that Friday to ฿3,500 in the calendar. Friday keeps ฿3,500 even if you later change a matching rule to ฿3,200. Other nights still follow their rules. After Back to rules, that Friday uses the price calculated by the current rules.

These are example amounts, not prices from your account.

What are price rules?

Open Calendar → Prices and rules for the unit. On Nightly rate, there are two rule lists:

  • Set the price: check from the top down. The first enabled rule that matches the night sets its starting price. Put the more specific rules above broader rules. Base is the fallback at the bottom.
  • Adjust the price: apply matching percentage changes to that starting price. Positive premiums add together. If several discounts match, only the biggest discount counts. The combined premium is applied first, then the biggest discount.

Finally, Floor and Ceiling keep the calculated rule price inside your configured limits.

Example: A price-setting rule gives ฿3,000. Matching premiums of 10% and 5% combine to 15%, giving ฿3,450. If discounts of 8% and 10% both match, only 10% applies, giving ฿3,105 before any floor or ceiling limit. These calculations apply to nights following the rules, rather than replacing a one-off price you entered on the calendar.

Switching a unit to rule lists also makes imported channel prices follow the rules. Prices you typed directly in Propool remain one-offs.

How do I return a calendar price to the rules?

  1. Open Calendar → Prices and rules for the unit.
  2. In Why this night, choose the date you want to check.
  3. If it shows One-off, the calendar price is being kept. The rule calculation shows what would apply if the night followed the rules.
  4. Choose Back to rules to release that night's one-off price and recalculate it using the saved rules.

Back to rules also releases minimum-stay, maximum-stay and check-in/check-out restrictions entered directly for that night. Check those values before using it. If you are previewing unsaved rule edits, save the intended rules before expecting those edits to control the calendar.

Does a calendar price override minimum stay too?

Changing only the price does not freeze the minimum stay. Prices and stay restrictions are handled separately. A night can keep your one-off price while its minimum stay still follows the rules.

The Minimum stay, Maximum stay and Check-in days sections have their own rule lists. A restriction you enter directly on the calendar is kept for that night until it is released with Back to rules.

Why might the channel show a different price?

A channel's price adjustment or markup is applied to the selected nightly price afterwards. For example, a calendar price of ฿3,500 with a 10% channel markup produces ฿3,850 for that channel. The markup does not change which calendar price takes precedence.

Saving a price is separate from delivery to the channel. Check the channel's sync status before assuming the new price is live there. A calendar-link connection carries availability, rather than nightly prices.
